Are you looking for ways to improve your resource management skill in Rise of Kingdoms?
Look no further because we have assembled the top 10 best gathering commanders to harvest a heap of resources on the map and bringing them back to your city.
Gathering is one of the most critical Rise of Kingdoms game mechanisms used to help upgrade important buildings, research technologies, and training troops.
Therefore, you must become effective at farming resources by assembling a team of powerful gathering commanders.
In this guide, I will teach you how to get started by bringing in a consistent flow of resources using the most simple and effective methods in less time.
Best of all, if you are running multiple farming accounts, you can apply the same technique as long as you have decent gathering commanders.
That being said, let’s get to the basics and learn how you can become a better farmer from early game to late game.
How to Gather Resources in Rise of Kingdoms
Currently, there are at least eight gathering commanders in Rise of Kingdoms — unless Lilith Games have a plan to add more in future game updates.
Ideally, you will want to use all of your gathering commanders but keep some of them specialized in harvesting specific resources.
Each commander comes with a passive skill set that allows them to harvest a specific resource type faster than others.
However, you are free to gather any resource type as long as it is deemed fit to do the task.
I recommended having diverse gathering commanders because, in the late game, you will want to take advantage of the gathering speed bonus.
Granted, it is a small bonus, but it does make a big difference — especially if you are playing as a free-to-play player and you want to go head-on with other powerful governors.
So, here’s a list of the top 10 best gathering commanders to get in Rise of Kingdoms right now:
Cleopatra VII

Level her up to 10 and rank up to 2 stars. Afterward, max out her 2nd skill and don’t invest in her anymore.
It is mainly because legendary commanders are much more expensive and time-consuming.

Depending on your luck, some players will get Cleopatra VII first, and some will get Ishida Mitsunari first.

How to Gathering Effectively in Rise of Kingdoms

Every time you send out a commander to farm resources, they should be specialized in by a gathering. You should always have more gathering commanders than your dispatch availability.
Which means your remaining gathering commanders should be sent as secondary commander to help out with harvesting resources to reduce the time it takes.
With five marches, it’s more effective to send your double march to farm alliance deposit.
There are no perks with sending non-gathering commanders to harvest resources as they don’t help out that much.
Commanders like Genghis Khan or Lancelot kills barbarians, not harvest crops, woods, gold, and stones for you.
Train & Use T1 Siege Units

The siege unit is by far the most underrated in Rise of Kingdoms, and you will want to have 100K siege units.
Here’s how it works:
- A siege unit carries 4 times more resources compared to other troop type.
- They are the easiest unit to train.
- Healing 100K siege units only takes 3 seconds, seriously.
Experienced Rise of Kingdoms players invest in Tier 1 siege units to make it easy to farm high level resources.
It’s a secret gathering trick that not a whole lot of governors know about it.
Gathering on Alliance Territory

Most of you probably don’t know this bonus exists in Rise of Kingdoms, but gathering on Alliance Territory is a tremendous help to advancing your empire.
Here’s how gathering on Alliance Territory helps you out:
- Get 25% gathering speed bonus when harvesting on Alliance Territory
- Your alliance gets 1% on the top of the resources gathered from the RSS.
- We highly recommended teleport to the edge or outside of the flag areas, so that these RSS can spawn in the middle.
Keeping Idle Gatherers Busy

You always will want to keep your idle gathering commanders busy, and you can do that without having to check-in Rise of Kingdoms to see if they are done or not.
Here’s how you can do that:
- To enable this feature, you will need to turn on the notifications via settings in your Governor Profile.
- Set “When troops have returned” to ON.
- Enable notifications for Rise of Kingdoms on your device.
