Background Information

Scipio Africanus Commander

Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus was a Roman general and later consul who is often regarded as one of the greatest generals and military strategists of all time. His main achievements were during the Second Punic War where he is best known for defeating Hannibal at the final battle at Zama in 202 BC, one of the feats that earned him the agnomen Africanus.

Although considered a hero by the general Roman populace, primarily for his contributions in the struggle against the Carthainians, Scipio was reviled by other patricians of his day.

In his later years, he was tried for bribery and treason, unfounded charges that were only meant to discredit him before the public. Disillusioned by the ingratitude of his peers, Scipio left Rome and withdrew from public life.

Best Scipio Africanus Talent Trees

Here is a list of the best talent builds for Scipio Africanus. You can have up to three talent presets per commander and we have included the best talent trees to maximize your Scipio Africanus’ combat effectiveness.

Conqueror Talent Build

Best Scipio Africanus Conqueror Talent Build ROK

By default, the Conqueror talent build is the best pick for Scipio Africanus. As you might notice, the talent build is actually quite different for Scipio Africanus compared to more popular commanders such as Osman I and Mehmed II. Though, it’s because Scipio Africanus’ active skill doesn’t do any direct damage factor.

Therefore, he is dependent on the troops doing all the damage for him. Which means this talent build focuses on improving the overall damage done via troops (white attacks). In addition to that, the speed of rage generation is improved.

This allows Scipio Africanus to apply debuffs on the enemy targets to help his troops fight better and effectively during the combat.

Pure PvP Talent Build

Best Scipio Africanus PvP Talent Build ROK

One of the main advantage Scipio Africanus has over other starting commanders is the ability to work around with various troops. If you prefer to stick to just one type of troop, that’s absolutely fine because this talent build is great choice.

The 6 talent points which is usually invested in giving 3% attack and defense bonus if you do mixed army goes to improving the troops’ overall attacking strength. Whether you want to do a pure army build, Scipio Africanus have no problem accommodating to a one-type army.

Speed of rage generation is also improved, allowing him to maintain the debuffs on enemy targets.

Mixed PvP Talent Build

Best Scipio Africanus Mixed PvP Talent Build ROK

An alternative option to Pure PvP talent build is Mixed PvP talent build. If you prefer to use 3 or more type of troops, then this talent build is the best pick. Because this build will give 3% attack and defense bonus under Scipio Africanus leadership.

The bonus is nice to have since it gives a blanket buff to all troops as long as you have 3 or more type of troops in the army. Just like the previous talent build, the speed of rage generation is improved and the strength of attacking also grows the longer Scipio Africanus remains in combat.

Best Commander Pairs

Scipio Africanus is a very good epic commander who specializes in large troop size and powerful conquering skill. His skills make it quite easy to pair with almost all commanders, including legendary commanders. We have included a list of ideal commanders to maximize your troops’ strength.

Richard I

Rise of Kingdoms Richard I

Scipio Africanus pairs extremely well with Richard I. This legendary commander will amplify the troop’s defensive capabilities during the defensive wars in addition to Scipio Africanus’ offensive and large troop capacity.

When combined with Richard I, it can become very tough for your enemies to conquer your garrisons. If you don’t have Richard I as your secondary commander, Charles Martel and Alexander the Great are other good secondary commanders to pick instead.

Julius Caesar

Rise of Kingdoms Julius Caesar

The synergy between Scipio Africanus and Julius Caesar sets up a combination of strong leadership, large troop size and powerful siege capabilities. Julius Caesar’s siege ability makes him the natural conqueror in addition to Scipio Africanus’ already strong offensive skills.

When you combine these two commanders, you gain more troop size that makes it easier to bring in larger resource loads from pillaged cities. Both natural offensive and defensive skills make them the perfect choice. Hannibal Barca is also a strong choice if you don’t have Julius Caesar as your secondary commander.

Yi Seong-Gye

Rise of Kingdoms Yi Seong-Gye

Yi Seong-Gye is the best secondary commander to enhance your primary commander’s nuking ability. When you combine Scipio Africanus with Yi Seong-Gye, your troops reap in awesome offensive capabilities. They will absolutely slaughter everything on their way.

In addition to Scipio Africanus’ leadership and conquering skill, the added offensive capabilities makes it easy to overwhelm the enemies’ forces with little to no resistance. El Cid is also a good legendary commander to go with Scipio Africanus if you don’t have Yi Seong-Gye.

Baibars

Baibars ROK Selection Screen

If you are looking for speed and the ability to deliver devastating blows to your enemies. Baibars makes a great pair with Scipio Africanus. As you know, Baibars are incredibly capable of demolishing your enemies thanks to his active skill that slows them down, allowing you to carve them to death. Although, he can use some additional damage boost, specifically when it comes to conquering enemy cities.

The 10% troop capacity proves to be a nice bonus by allowing him to stack up with more cavalry. In addition to that, the 25% damage reduction allows this combo to hold out in the battle just bit longer and allows you to retain more troops after the end of battle.

Hannibal Barca

Best Hannibal Barca Commander Rise of Kingdoms

Any players who wants to build a serious duo specialized in conquering your enemies and at the same time destroying them on the map need to do Hannibal Barca + Scipio Africanus pair. Hannibal Barca will bring an extra 10% troop capacity and increase damage of all troops by 10% when your army has 3 or more troops under his leadership.

His active skill does quite a moderate amount of damage in addition to damage over the time. Scipio Africanus’ active skill helps out a lot with reducing incoming damage and increasing the amount of damage when countering. If you are looking to greatly reduce your enemy’s combat effectiveness, this pair is great for PvP battles and Expedition Mode.
